CBD event mix up causes the Police College’s freedom of the city parade to be postponed.

A COUNCIL inquiry will be conducted into a mix up that saw the Cr Neil Penning called for the internal investigation at Tuesday’s council meeting, winning unanimous support.

Despite talks on the College’s 25th anniversary celebrations stretching back more than a year, the November 14 parade was called off after the clash with the annual Convoy for Kids charity event was discovered. Both events were to be held in Goulburn’s CBD.

“The terms of reference for this inquiry will be that it will be an inquiry within council to identify the reasoning and responsibility for this mess to substantiate a report, that if acted on by council, will eliminate the reoccurrence of this or similar bad management,” Cr Penning wrote in his notice of motion.

On Tuesday, he noted a report to be discussed later went some way to fixing similar mix-ups in the future.
