Drug-driving truckie banned: Pseudofed excuse dismissed

29 Feb, 2008 07:20 AM
A TRUCK driver who drove while under the influence of methamphetamine, but who said it was caused by ingesting Pseudofed, has been fined and disqualified from driving.

Grant Bradley Hillman, 34, a truck driver, of Wallowa St, Leeton, pleaded guilty to driving with an illicit drug present in his blood, when a solicitor appeared on his behalf in Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday.

Police said at 3pm on May 23 last year, Hillman was driving an articulated lorry when police at the Marulan Checking Station stopped him for a random drug test.

A breath test proved negative but an oral fluid test positively identified methamphetamine in his system. A further sample was taken and analysed by police, which later confirmed this.
