Gloria Peterson and Alma Kettle: Goulburn's proudest mums

06 Jul, 2009 11:10 AM
MUMS know best.

Just ask Gloria Peterson and Alma Kettle.

The proud mums of Goulburn Mulwaree's newest councillors spoke openly and frankly about their sons on Wednesday.

Gloria Peterson, 81, mentioned her son's ego.

"It was rather daunting raising him," she said.

"He has a big ego. I pulled him up about it a thousand times."

At this Cr Peterson laughed and said: "Gee thanks mum - that will really give me a boost!"

Regarding whether he would make a good councillor, Mrs Peterson said: "God help anybody who puts a foot wrong near him."

"No, I think he will go well on the council because he is from a big family (of 12)."

Cr Peterson is known for his wit and humour and it is easy to see where he gets it from.

When asked how she coped with such a large family, Mrs Peterson said: "With the help of the dear Lord."
