Groups to ‘troubleshoot’ wind issue

16 Nov, 2009 10:45 AM
IT’S official - the Goulburn region is a “renewable energy precinct”, with the area having five to 10 times the amount of approved and assessed wind farms than any other area in the state.

The NSW/ACT Border Region precinct, which takes in Goulburn, is one of six newly established areas targeting “undeveloped wind resources in NSW”, according to the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW).

As part of their formation, the DECCW is also setting up advisory committees for each precinct which DECCW deputy director general Simon Smith said will “ensure strong ties between the State Government, local government and local communities” on renewable energy issues, having them no actual decision making power.
