Paraglider loses life in crash

02 Jan, 2012 09:14 AM
A PARAGLIDER was found dead near Collector on Saturday after an extensive search. The 48-year-old ACT man had been missing since Friday, police said.

A friend who normally picked him up from his landing site contacted police at about 1.30pm Saturday, concerned for his welfare.

The Australian Federal Police went to his Canberra home but couldn’t locate him. Goulburn police were called in to help the search and traced his mobile phone signal to the Collector area.

The man had paraglided from Geary’s Gap, Lake George, on Friday. Officers found his body in a paddock off Mark Tree Rd, Collector at 4pm Saturday.

The search also involved Polair and Police Rescue.
