A DOZEN local parents took advantage of the council’s Safe Seat Day on Wednesday and had the child restraints in their cars checked for free.
The checks were conducted at Rapid Auto in Goldsmith St by authorised restraint fitter Mark Skelly and council say they are very pleased with how the day went.
“Twelve families had their restraints installed or checked for safety, with many asking questions about the new child restraint regulations coming into force on March 1,” road safety officer Claire Bonner said.
“The new law changes aim to ensure that young children up to the age of seven are correctly restrained - it could mean the difference between life and death.”
