Performing Art Centre venue 'better'

09 Nov, 2009 04:45 PM
MEMBERS of the Goulburn Performing Arts Collective (GPAC) have met with the council to determine the status of funds from the sale of the Lilac Time Hall, among other issues.

Goulburn Regional Conservatorium director Stephen O’Connell and Lieder Theatre artistic director Chrisjohn Hancock met with Goulburn Mulwaree Council general manager Chris Berry last Thursday.

The purpose was to clarify the relationship of GPAC members to a proposed multifunction centre at the Recreation Area and to find out whether funds from the Lilac Time hall sale in 2000 would be allocated for that purpose.

The GPAC have previously made it clear they would prefer these funds to go into a Performing Arts Centre in town, rather than being spent on a multi-purpose venue (MPV) - now called a Multi Purpose Precinct at the Goulburn Recreation Area.
