Due to insufficient funding the college is set to cease operations on December 31, with the final decision surrounding the college’s future made on Tuesday October 20.

The decision had been discussed for several weeks but the management committee decided that SRCC Goulburn Executive Officer Helen Benton could no longer source funding that isn’t there.

“We can’t go into 2010 with the view that we could operate another year,” Mrs Benton said.

“The underlying problem is we are funded on a 12-month basis rather than given a three year contract so that you can plan ... you are reactive to community needs.”
