Violence in the street

09 Nov, 2009 05:22 PM
SIX police cars and an ambulance responded to a brawl in west Goulburn on Saturday afternoon, in which a pick handle was allegedly used.

The melee between four to five young males and females at the corner of Kent and Coromandel Streets at 4pm drew a crowd of onlookers.

A female who claimed to have witnessed the fight said a man in a black tee shirt was using what she thought was a wooden baseball bat. This turned out to be a pick handle to attack other people involved in the brawl.

When the man heard police sirens, he threw the bat away. Someone else picked it up and started attacking another male, according to the witness.

She said there was a lot of screaming and shouting and it appeared several people were involved.

The arrival of police quickly brought the situation under control.
