THE Goulburn Workers Bulldogs were forced to play extra time to win a classic Canberra Raiders Cup grand final yesterday with a 29-24 win over the West Belconnen Warriors.
The side trailed 14-12 at half time but a strong breeze saw the side come over the top of the West Belconnen Warriors to lead 22-18 with five minutes remaining.
West Belconnen then scored a converted try to lead by two but gave the Goulburn side a penalty with only seconds remaining to force the match into extra time.
The encounter was a bruising affair with several hits in the first half coming under scrutiny from the referee although the sides retained their full complement of players.
