Athletics scholarship for McNamara

01 Oct, 2008 09:27 AM
GOULBURN sprinter William McNamara, 15, is on his first individual scholarship in athletics with the South East Regional Academy of Sport (SERAS) Country Energy Program in 2008.

At the Australian All Schools Track and Field Championships in Sydney in December last year, McNamara won the highest number of medals out of all athletes in Australia. He was also the highest scoring athlete in NSW.

McNamara won the U15 boys 100m, 200m, and 400m events and was a member of the winning U16 boys 100m relay team.

At the ACT Little Athletics State Championships in March this year he won the U15 boys 200m event with a new ACT record in a time of 23.62 seconds, as well as winning the 400m, 100m hurdles, and discus.
