NEW TERRITORY: Touchdowns, scrimmages and forward passes are set to take place on a ground more accustomed to hosting games of rugby league tomorrow.
On the same weekend as the Super Bowl, Canberra-based gridiron outfits the Centurions, Wildcats and Gladiators, along with the Bondi Raiders and Wollongong Mustangs, will partake in simultaneous halffield clashes, known as scrimmages, at Workers Arena. Scrimmages kick-off at 12.30pm and will be followed by a full-field showdown between under 18 line-ups from the Centurions and Wollongong Mustangs.
The feature of American Football is a pre-cursor to a world junior championship qualifying match between Australia and American Samoa at the Gold Coast on February 23.
Many of those involved in Saturday’s match will watch eagerly on Monday when the New York Giants tackle the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 46.
