Ryan, 15, will spearhead the Australians’ charged in the series against the Kiwis, which takes place in Auckland from March 17- 23. She’ll pull on the green and gold and play in the pairs and fours formats.
The teenager is no stranger when it comes to representing her country. She earned a place in the Australian junior team in 2012 after claiming gold while representing NSW at the national titles in Darebin in February, 2012.
She’s not long returned from New Zealand. Ryan joined local bowlers Tracey Swift, Jamie Marshall and Andrew Caldow, along with a host of other South East Regional Academy of sport members, for a bowling tour of Christchurch.
Ryan was also named Athlete of the Year in the SERAS Lawn Bowls Program for 2012. The award goes to the athlete that demonstrates a commitment and desire to reach the elite level of their sport while respecting others and learning how to manage themselves in an appropriate manner with sponsors, officials and significant others.
