P-plater charged after Marulan crash

A p-plater has been charged with drink driving after a serious crash near Marulan.

About 2pm yesterday (Thursday 7 February 2013), police were called to reports of a Mitsubishi Lancer driving erratically in the northbound lanes of the Hume Highway at Marulan.

As police were responding, they were called to a crash at the same location after the Lancer collided with a Toyota Hilux.

All lanes of the highway were blocked and a 59-year-old woman was trapped in the Toyota Hilux with serious injuries.

She was freed by Police Rescue before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital where she underwent treatment for fractures to her arms, legs and pelvis.

The 26-year-old driver of the Lancer, a P1 licence holder, was uninjured in the crash. He was breath tested at the scene which returned a positive result.

He was taken to Goulburn Police Station where he returned a breath analysis of 0.119.

The Claymore man was charged with mid-range PCA, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and P1 exceed speed over 20km/h. His licence was suspended.

He was bailed to appear at Goulburn Local Court on March 6, 2013.
