It’s party time! This year we commemorate the 150th anniversary of Goulburn becoming a city and, thanks to numerous volunteers including the hard-working members of the Birthday Committee, we’ve got a year-long party to celebrate the occasion. Official celebrations are set for March 14 and will be attended by NSW Governor Marie Bashir and Premier Barry O’Farrell (among many other dignitaries) but there are a host of activities planned across the entire year including a street parade, the launch of a commemorative birthday book, a Giant Cupcake competition and a live radio broadcast just for starters. A full list can be found here. And on top of celebrating the great city we have today, we’ll also be looking back on our history and how we got here. Many of the activities organised (and some that have already taken place) will recognise and celebrate that history. We’ve been fortunate to have local historian Roger Bayley write a series of articles on Goulburn’s history for the Post and these appear on this page. On top of that we’ve also linked the stories we’ve uploaded promoting the birthday. We also have links to the various great websites and related online resources so hopefully this page can help you stay connected to all of the events and activities planned as the year goes by. Enjoy the year and let’s celebrate how lucky we are to live in this great city. GOULBURN 150th LINKS:- Official Program | ![]() |
