HOW do you break a heatwave? By investing some time into writing about it, and Murphy’s Law will do the rest.

No not really, I can’t claim any responsibility whatsoever for the fantastic rainfall we’ve had this past week.
Although I wonder what deity with a warped sense of humour, decided that a deluge was necessary on the day our Prime Minister visited our drought stricken farmers.
Isn’t it always the way? It’s like those times when you book the car into the mechanic with a knock in the motor, and the knock goes away on the day you take it in. It seems the PM had the same reaction your mechanic had; ‘what are you talking about? It looks fine to me’.
While the PM did commit to economic assistance, once again he down played the enormity of the situation, telling farmers that this is nothing new. Not exactly what farmers experiencing record heat waves want to hear, or that the warming climate will not be taken into account in the aid package he will bring to cabinet.
Can someone give the guy an elbow to the ribs, and hand him a few reports on climate statistics? Although you have already heard my opinion about our nations need to set up better infrastructure due to things getting too warm, so I’ll leave that debate here because there is something much happier to chat about today.
It has finally rained! Water tanks have been filled! What a way to knock out that heatwave, my backyard dustbowl is starting to turn a little green again.
While the deluge did cause a few problems, unexpected leaks and flash floods, and a lot of people were caught off guard.
It still was just beautiful rain. I know writing about the weather is not necessarily cutting edge, maybe not even remotely interesting to some. Unless you live in Gunning, which I hope was provided with some much needed relief.
Local social media addicts were gushing, if you pardon the pun, about their happiness due to the arrival of so much rain.
My children went outside and ran around with umbrellas, it was pure joy to watch. Then I realised I shouldn’t just watch, and went out there with them.
This morning I found my apple tree in blossom, that is how relieved my garden is, it’s flowering.
Could this be the turning point for the winter we’ve been longing for to return? The Bureau of Meteorology thinks so, there is a massive cold front on its way next week, but it gets better.
Snow is predicted for the southern states, I kid you not. Sure it will just be in the Alpine areas, but still, SNOW! Bring it on!
