ATTEMPTING to follow the journalistic expertise and humour of Acting Superintendent Quarmby is a daunting task and therefore, for my foray into journalism, I will stick to the facts.

Crime rates in Goulburn continue to remain low and whilst one criminal act is one too many, rest assured that your Police are doing an excellent job in preventing crime from occurring and, just as importantly, apprehending those responsible when it does.
At times however, we cannot stop every incident from occurring.
For those of you who were unfortunate enough to be at the Centro on Wednesday afternoon, when a group of adults decided to embark upon their own public display of tag team wrestling, please feel confident that the appropriate action was taken.
Thanks to quick thinking by some “off duty” police, along with those “on duty” police who hastily rushed to their assistance, these persons were arrested and charged and will not be coming back to the Centro any time soon.
Whilst Police are often out there walking the beat, incidents such as this will ensure that we do not become complacent and you will see a lot more of your Police, including yours truly, walking the streets and the malls of this beautiful town.
We are also blessed to live and work in a Command where we have trained Rescue Operators as part of our team.
Watching them first hand in the early hours of Monday morning at Bungonia last week, together with our colleagues from NSW Ambulance - scat and Volunteer Rescue Association - Cave Rescue Team, reaffirmed to me the importance of safety in everything you do.
Whether it be caving, bush walking, horse riding or trail bike riding, please take some simple steps before you venture out :– Ensure you have the skills to undertake the task at hand, check the weather conditions, let someone know where you will be, inform someone when you are due back and have adequate provisions with you.
All this helps us in helping you if something happens to go wrong.
Fortunately last week, these principles were followed and three men were rescued.
