First grade stormed over a physical Hall Bushrangers on Saturday, winning 61-12.

24 hours later they ground out a determined one point victory over ADFA 29-28 in a match that was moved forward from an upcoming round.

BJ Thomas was instrumental in both games, taking out best on ground for both senior matches.

Rob Sheekey proved his worth scoring six tries between the two games and Jacob Roberts and Mik Webber, who was playing at the number 8 position for the first time, also had good games.

A concussion to Michael McKillop in the match against Hall saw Jono Nichols promoted from reserve grade for the match on Sunday.

After downing Hall, backing up against a fresh ADFA outfit was always going to be a formidable task.

However a furious opening term saw the side 22- 7 up in the beginning of the second half.

Heavy ground and the extremely short turnaround then took its toll and the Reds let in three tries in 15 minutes for a thrilling end of the match.

Jacob Roberts was sin binned for a dangerous tackle but returned to the field with 10 minutes to go.

“I thought our second half efforts were really good, and we had good support play,” coach Darren Solomons told the Post.

“Work at the breakdown needs more work.”

The Red’s reserve grade shared winning spoils with their senior counterparts, with convincing wins over Hall 24-3 and then thrashing ADFA 49-nil.

Zac Solomons and Brandon Courts were players who may be looking at a first grade call up.
