The team was rallying behind Newcastle Knights NRL player Alex McKinnon who is confined to life in a wheelchair after a dangerous tackle earlier in the year.
Last weekend, the NRL launched a Rise for Alex campaign which aimed to raise support for Alex and the challenges in his new life.
“It was the kids’ idea, and I was quite surprised when they told me,” Junior Stockmen president Troy Lacey said.
“They understand it too. They know it isn’t just for Alex McKinnon, they understand it’s for others kids too.
