The team was undefeated throughout their two weeks abroad and won a hard fought test series against their South African counterparts 3-0.
The tour, which started in the last week of June, included three trial games in Cape Town against the South African Western Province sides before a trial game in Durban.
A test series against South Africa’s best schoolgirls was then played.
The 17-year-old was selected in the Australian team after competing for NSW at the school-age National Championships in Hobart last year.
Locally, she plays for the Drifters Hockey Club, along side commitments to Canberra club St Patricks in the women’s Capital League competition.
It wasn’t all hockey on the tour, with students visiting Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, the Apartheid Museum and the city of Soweto in Johannesburg, plus taking part in a safari at a game reserve to see Africa’s wildlife.
