The Strikers have had a number of hick-ups over the season, including the resignation of their coach due to personal reasons and injuries to players Jess Dally, Ashley Kara, Lizzie Bennett and Cassie Croker.
But four weeks ago Captain of the all aged men, Dave Albrighton put his hand up to coach the ladies and he has created a positive moral throughout the team. Dave said “the team wanted to have some fun and maybe win a game.”
This strategy has certainly worked, the AAW Strikers team has gone from last place with two points, to equal seventh with eleven points.
The Strikers will be going into the game on Sunday as the underdogs, due to loosing the last two games against Molonglo. But with the positive moral and new team structure, luck might be on the Strikers side.
Albrighton is looking forward to the game and he said “regardless of the result, the team has succeeded with the goals that they have created, and he is proud of their effort”.
The Goulburn Strikers AAW kick off at 1pm this Sunday at Lyneham.
