The resentment is palpable and is being fuelled by the disgraceful evidence spewing out of the ICAC inquiry in political slush funds.
People are sick of being overlooked and taken for a ride by metronomic politicians who push an ideological agenda regardless of the social, cultural or economic consequences.
The ‘March Goulburn’ event is a chance to make sure our concerns are heard, to bring about collective change by putting the onus on not only the political leaders but on neighbours, friends and fellow citizens.
Welfare changes, climate action, homelessness, the NBN, Medicare and rail services are just some of the big issues that will be raised tomorrow – in a peaceful manner, so the organisers say.
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor and his State counterpart for Goulburn Pru Goward have other plans and won’t be at tomorrow’s rally.
That’s fair enough.
But they better have a swift response to the concerns that will be discussed tomorrow.
It’s time to reconnect.
Crucially, for the message to be clear and credible, organisers must ensure tomorrow’s event is peaceful, constructive and eclectic in its political targeting.
