While coach Tilly Carbone was impressed with his player's attack in front of goal, he said that their style of play required them to keep working hard on their defence.

"Our style of play lends itself to attack. We're an all-out attacking team. What that means is sometimes you leave yourself exposed at the back. We rely on scoring more goals than the opposition, but it wasn't to be," Carbone said.

"We created four really good goal scoring opportunities that we failed to convert. That was the difference in the end."

Carbone said that he believes the girls up front will look to attack the net in this weekend's sudden death final.

Ashleigh and Brittany Palombi, Olivia Fogarty, and Zoe Szeremet have all enjoyed goal scoring success so far this year.

However, Carbone conceded that tactics may have to change this weekend, given the Panthers must win to make a second straight grand final.

"We may just take a little bit more of a cautious approach going forward," he said.

"We're going to have to be mindful that we don't get caught out on the transition or the counter-attack. I may just play one extra defensive player this week if necessary."

However the Panthers will be key central defender and captain Stephanie Coates, who rolled her ankle at training last week.

Despite playing through the pain on Sunday, she will be rested this week in the hope she will be available for the Grand Final, should Monaro qualify.

"She [Coates] has been colossal. Her and Lizzie Reed, our two centre backs, have had a tremendous season," Carbone said.

Carbone has faith in his team that they are good enough to win this weekend, and should they do so, challenge for the win against Belconnen United in the Grand Final.

"If we can get into our rhythm and move that ball quickly, I think we're a superior team."
