About 4.30pm, an unoccupied car was parked on the side of the northern lanes of the Hume Highway.
Another vehicle, that was also travelling north, has left the road and hit the parked car. As a result both vehicles caught fire and have been destroyed.
The driver underwent a roadside breath test which proved positive. The driver and his male passenger were taken to Goulburn Hospital for further medical checks.
Inquiries into the events leading up to the crash are continuing
Both lanes of traffic are now open but traffic is still backed up and moving slowly.
5.30pm: A motor vehicle accident on the Hume Highway north of Goulburn has resulted in at least one car catching fire and caused traffic delays.
Emergency services have attended the scene near Carrick Road and extinguished the fire. Lengthy delays are being experienced.
