About 4.00am on Sunday 19th of October 2014 two male offenders described as wearing tracksuit type clothing, white hooded tops with black material covering face, gloves and one carrying a bag, have forced entry to the Australian Post Office Shop on Main Street Mittagong. The offenders have entered the store and stolen property from various cabinets. The security alarm was activated and both security & police arrived a short time later with no persons sighted. . Police are continuing the investigation into the matter, and encourage anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity nearby to contact local police.

About 12.03 am on Sunday the 19th of October 2014, police were out the front of the Royal Hotel, Bong Bong Street, Bowral. At the time Police had arrested a male patron of the hotel who had been asked by security to leave the hotel due to his intoxication and behaviour. Another two males have approached police to discuss the arrest of the male patron. Whilst police were speaking to these males, one of the males has come up behind the police officer and attempted to assault him. The officer avoided being assaulted, and was prevented from giving chase to the male who had run from the scene, by being held back by the second male. The officer has managed to work themselves free of the males grip and ran after the third offender, catching him and placing him under arrest. The second male was also arrested for hindering police. Upon searching the offenders, one male was found in possession of a pocket knife with a 10cm blade. All males were charged with relevant offences.

Between 7pm on Saturday 18th October and Sunday morning on 19th October several letterboxes along Linden Way Bowral were damage by unknown persons. If anyone has information to assist police in identifying the offenders please contact Bowral police.

About 6.40am on 17th October 2014 the owner of Janeks Café, Bowral has entered the premises through the front door to begin trading for the day. He has noticed smoke coming from the rear of the store kitchen area, and called triple O to report a fire, with Bowral Fire Brigade attending shortly after, and extinguishing the fire. Some damage to the kitchen area was sustained, and upon examination of the scene it appears an electrical fault was the cause of the fire.

Throughout the evening of Tuesday, 14 October, 2014 police from Bowral attended to a large number of Storm & Tempest incidents with the SES, Endeavour Energy and Wingecarribee Shire Council. Police and emergency crews were kept very busy for the night due to fallen trees, dangerous road conditions, and other damage caused by the storm. A female driver was lucky to escape uninjured, yet suffering shock when a large tree branch fell onto the bonnet of the vehicle she was driving along Bong Bong Street Mittagong during the storm.

About 7.00am on Sunday 19th October 2014, the owner of a 1985 Lotus vehicle has driven his vehicle with the intention of attending Wakefield Race Track. About 7.20am as he was driving along Sloane Street, Goulburn, the vehicle has suddenly jolted as if backfiring. The driver has looked towards the rear of the Lotus and saw an amount of black smoke emitting from the vehicle. He immediately parked the vehicle at the kerbside in front of Goulburn Bowling club before the vehicle was engulfed in flame. Due to the nearby location of Goulburn police station, police were immediately on scene, called fire brigade and closed the road between Goldsmith and Clifford Street until the fire was extinguished by attending fire crews. The vehicle was totally destroyed by the fire, no persons were injured. It is believed an electrical fault caused the fire.

About 3:30pm on Sunday the 19th of October 2014, a female driver was stopped in her vehicle by Police at Cowper Street in Goulburn, for the purpose of a Random Breath and Drug Test. The driver was requested to produce her licence which she could not do. The driver was submitted to a road side breath test with a negative result. She was then submitted to a drug test which subsequently produced a positive detection to Cannabis and Methamphetamines. The driver was arrested and conveyed to Goulburn Police for the purposes of a secondary oral fluid test which provided a positive result for drugs. The driver was released from custody with charges to be laid for licence and driving under the influence of drugs.

About 11.15pm on Friday 17th October 2014 police had cause to stop and speak with a young male at the corner of Comur Street & Meehan Street Yass. At this time the male was accompanied by another male, who was intoxicated by alcohol. Whilst police were speaking with the first male his friend has become abusive to police and attempted to intervene physically between police and the other male. Police have requested the second male to move from the area, which he eventually did, however he continued to yell & swear at police. The male has then walked back to police and he was warned action would be taken about his offensive behaviour. Police have requested to see his identification; however the male has refused to comply and became aggressive. Police have attempted to arrest the male when he has punched both officers and wrestled with police, until police were able to restrain the male with handcuffs. The male was placed into the rear of a police truck and continued to swear and yell at police whilst he was conveyed to Yass police station. Once police were able to confirm the male’s identity he was issued a court attendance notice for several related offences and released from custody.

Between 8am & 6.30pm on Wednesday 15th October 2014 unknown persons have attended a property about 7kms along Wee Jasper Road, Wee Jasper. Offenders have forced entry into the residence through the front door, however it appears no property was missing from inside. The offenders have also forced entry into a rear shed and stolen a chain saw, solar power storage battery, and jumper leads. Anyone with information that may assist police in their investigation is urged to contact Yass Police.
