A Kenworth truck carrying steel building materials headed towards Goulburn clipped the side of the man’s Toyota Venta, also heading towards Goulburn, some 3km north of the Police Driver Training School at about 9.20am.
The Toyota careered down a small embankment on the side of the road. The rear driver’s side door bore the most impact but scrapes were apparent along the entire length. The car was towing a trailer.
Police, ambulance and Rural Fire Service attended the scene.
The Toyota driver was conscious and breathing but shocked by the experience, witnesses said. He was taken to hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not known at this stage.
Police interviewed the truck driver, from a Wagga Wagga based company, at the scene. They also carried out a drug and alcohol test. Roads and Maritime Service officers also attended.
The truck had scrapes on the front and a smashed driver’s side headlight.
Traffic was held up for about 20 minutes following the crash, including a truck carrying components for the Taralga wind farm.
