He told the Post it was his seventh win with the horse, but it was just as special as the first.
“It’s very emotional. Every win is very emotional. It doesn’t get any less,” he said after the race.
“I’m not a big trainer.
“This is the only horse I have. I bred him. I own him and I trained him.”
Goulburn Race Club president Fred Cooper said he is still honoured to have a race day in his name
sake.
“The thought to name it after me is pretty special,” he said.
“They named it while I was still alive! It’s a pleasure.”
