They came dressed in their finery from Goulburn, Sydney, Canberra, Mudgee, Wagga Wagga and many other parts of NSW.
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction and fashion, which also features steam-powered machinery. The Waterworks, with its two 1800s working steam engines was an ideal setting on a fine summer’s day.
Council’s museums officer Julie Salway, dressed to the nines herself, was thrilled with the turnout.
The day included the little known ‘tea dueling’ contest, involving competitors dunking their biscuits in tea.
Losing your biscuit means a swift exit. Victorian dances, a fashion parade judged by actor John Howard and Goulburn MP Pru Goward, museum tours, and parasol dueling by the crew from the airship, Sirius, made for a great day.
