With the festive season upon us, local communities of The Hume Local Area Command are reminded that Police are targeting alcohol and drug related crime and associated antisocial behaviour. Police will continue to take zero tolerance to alcohol/drug fuelled criminal and antisocial behaviour. Enjoy the festivities and drink responsibility!

About 00.20am on Sunday 14th December 2014, Police in the Bowral received a '000' call to attended Lake Alexander Mittagong. The '000' call originated from a sim less mobile phone and the caller used a false name. The male caller requested Police assistance stating to the '000' operator; there were 8 males throwing bottles and smashing on his van door. At the time of the broadcast by VKG Police attached to The Hume Anti Theft Unit were a short distance from the location of Lake Alexander Mittagong. Police arrived at the location quickly after the call. Police were unable to locate any van or group of males. Police being aware of similar incidents of this nature continued to patrol the surrounding streets with no persons sighted.
At 00.30am Police attended the corner of Station Street and Old Hume Highway Mittagong. There Police conducted a foot patrol of the immediate area. Police were inside the grounds of the Church on the corner of Station Street and Old Hume Highway when a group of approximately 12-14 persons were sighted walking from Victoria Street across Old Hume Highway, Mittagong. Police immediately recognised certain members of the group. Shortly after other 000 calls were made and Police located the same males. Police spoke further to the males and then placed 2 males under arrest. A witness statement was obtained and the males were returned to Bowral Police Station. Two adult males aged in their early twenties were issued Court Attendance Notices and further enquiries are continuing in relation to continued 000 calls over the past 18 months.

On the 13th of October 2014 an 18 year old male from Berkley failed to appear before the Port Kembla Local Court to answer assault charges. As a result of this a Bench Warrant was issued by Port Kembla Local Court for the offender’s arrest. About 12:50pm on Friday the 12th of December 2014, police were patrolling the Moss Vale Railway Station when they recognised the male and were aware of his outstanding warrant, Police approached the male and introduced themselves and placed him under arrest by virtue of the outstanding warrant. The offender was then conveyed to Bowral Police Station where he was introduced to the custody manger.

About 12.20 on Thursday 11/12/14 a 26 year old male from the Moss Vale area was driving his yellow Ford Mavrick on Lackey Road, Moss Vale. The vehicle was stopped for the purpose of a random breath test. During the interaction with police the male admitted that he was a recreational cannabis user. After a short conversation he produced a clear zip lock bag containing an amount of cannabis out of his front left pocket of his jeans. The male was cautioned and questioned in relation to the cannabis stating that it was for his my personal use. Police performed checks on the male which revealed he was entitled to a cannabis caution. The caution was delivered at location with the male signing the document in the presence of police.

At 0330 on the 15/12/2014 police received a phone call from the NSW RFS informing police there was a house on fire at a property on Coven Creek Road Lake Bathurst. The NSW RFS operator informed police there were no persons inside the property. Police attended the location a short time later and spoke to the NSW RFS fire captain who informed police that the house was fully engulfed in flames on their arrival. The NSW RFS received the call out at 2:30am and arrived at the scene shortly after. He stated the fire was fully extinguished at 4:00am. The fire may have been started from an electrical fault, and did not appear to be suspicious. Police spoke to the owner of the property who lived a short distance from the location. The owner stated that he had not seen the tenant for more than two weeks as his car had not been at the location during that time. The owner provided police with the contact number of the tenant so he could be informed of the incident.
The Goulburn community are reminded that Police are targeting alcohol related crime and associated antisocial behaviour. Police will continue to target persons and licensed premises taking a zero tolerance to alcohol fuelled criminal and antisocial behaviour.
Children and parents are also reminded over the holiday break ALL SCHOOL PREMISES ARE STRICTLY OFF LIMITS. Police will concentrate additional patrols of schools and those caught trespassing will be dealt with accordingly.

About 1600 on Saturday the 13th December 2014 the owner of a property on Ledger Road, Goulburn attended the address which is currently being renovated. The property has tradesmen coming and going regularly. The owner had not been to the location for about 2 weeks, although their electrician had been at the location on and off over that time. Upon entering the premises the owner noticed that the house had been ransacked and lots of things had been moved the owner has called Police who arrived a short time later. The owner pointed out a large amount of Green Spray can graffiti in one room. There was the tag “ZORROW”, a pentagram and 666 sprayed over different walls in the room as well as some other unreadable words. Police took photos at the location. Anyone with information is requested to contact Goulburn Police or Crime Stoppers.

About 8pm on Friday 12th December 2014, a 22 year old male from Albion Park Rail drove his motor vehicle on the Hume Highway near Goulburn. Police following the vehicle checked his speed between 135kmph and 145kmph for a number of kilometres before signalling for him to stop approximately 2 kilometres south of Goulburn. The driver had 4 other passengers in his vehicle. The driver was spoken to & issued an infringement for over 30kmph. Police had cause to search the vehicle and in doing so located in excess of 50 pills which the driver stated were ecstasy pills. The driver was arrested & further interviewed at Goulburn Police Station where he made further admissions to supplying the drug. Police also located 3 vials containing a liquid which the offender stated were an illegal steroid. Police also located a quantity of Cannabis. The offender has been charged with indictable supply as a result. The offender was issued bail to attend Goulburn Local Court 07/01/2015.

About 00:25am on Wednesday 10th December 2014, police stopped a 38 year old male from Fairfield for a random breath test as he drove in a southerly direction on the Hume Highway near Goulburn. The driver stated he was en route from western Sydney to the ACT to work. Checks revealed he was a suspended driver. As a result of information available to Police a search of the vehicle was conducted with nil located. The driver was issued with a license suspension notice formally informing him of his license status. The driver was then escorted into Goulburn township to organise transport to the ACT for his employment.

About 14:28 on Saturday 13 December 2014 an ACT registered Blue Mitsubishi Lancer driven by a 42 year old male was stopped by Police at Barton Highway, Jeir for the purpose of a Random Breath and Drug Test. The driver participated in a breath test which returned a negative result. The driver was then subjected to an oral fluid test, which subsequently produced a positive detection to cannabis. The accused was arrested for the purpose of a secondary oral fluid test and taken to a drug testing truck. The driver was cautioned and asked a number of questions. The driver subsequently admitted to being a regular cannabis user. A sample was then obtained and sealed in the presence of the driver. The driver was advised that the sample would be sent to the New South Wales Forensic and Analytical Science Service at Lidcombe for analysis. Once the sample is analysed and the result returned the driver will be processed accordingly.

On the 13th December a local female from Bowning attended Yass Police Station, to report her handbag stolen from her vehicle a white Prado, from the evening before. The Prado was at the time being used by her husband. The husband drove the vehicle to the Bowning hotel on Friday evening 12/12/14 about 16.00pm and left the vehicle unlocked. The owner’s handbag was left on the front seat of the vehicle with all windows to the vehicle open. On returning to the vehicle at 7.00pm the owners’ husband returned home. It was not until the 13th December when the owner needed an item from her bag that she noticed it was missing from the vehicle. The owner contacted her husband to see if he had removed the bag containing her purse but he stated no. The owner’s bag along with all identification and cash appears to have been stolen from the vehicle.
Once again Police need to remind people to remove valuables from vehicles and take responsibility for their own property by securing vehicles regardless of its location. Anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour at this location during this time frame is asked to contact Yass Police or Crime Stoppers with information.
