Inspired, he discussed the idea with his wife and five-year-old daughter.
After some research, online purchases, a bit of “trial and error” and help from a mate, their home at 13 Riverview Place is now a Christmas lights hit.
The lightshow runs simulcast to music aired on 88.1FM from 8.30pm.
“It has only been up since last Saturday and lots of people including workmates have brought friends around to see the display,” Mr Bush said.
He explained he had to source a lot of the equipment online.
He also used his skills learnt as an apprentice electrician to change the timings of light patterns by modifying circuits.
“We also had to work out what music would be catchy enough and appealing to a wide ranging audience,” Mr Bush said.
“I actually started organising the display in late August there was a bit of trial and error and some sets of lights failed along the way.
“Just in each of the arches alone there are 4200 led lights.
“Abattoirs electrician, Mick Sperring was a big help with the light sequence programming, each change requires programming and there can be hundreds on changes in just one minute of music.
“Five seconds of music took about an hour to program.
“Needless to say I have learnt a lot in doing this and I suppose got carried away and so did the budget!
“It has only been up since last Saturday and lots of people including workmates have brought friends around to see the display.”
Being at the end of a cul-de-sac there has been a bit of traffic congestion with people stopping to watch the show.
People tune their car radios to 88.1FM and listen as the lights change in time with the music.
During the week nights, Mr Bush has set the display to start at 8.30pm and finish at 10pm - but on Saturday and Sunday it will run till 11pm.
“I am sure I will have another go at doing a light show next year,” Mr Bush said.
“We have had such a positive reaction to it.”
Mr Bush’s home was not one of the entries in the Goulburn Post light’s competition, he just did it like virtually everyone who has set up lights on their homes, “to bring some Christmas joy to Goulburn particularly for our children.”
