As such, Victoria Park will come alive to celebrate everything Australian.
Goulburn Mulwaree Council has organised a jam-packed schedule of events for Australia Day on Monday, from a free barbecue in the morning to helicopter rides and dirt-bike stunt shows throughout the day.
Chairwoman of the Australia Day committee Carol James said the event, which attracts thousands to the park each year, has more than 40 stallholders signed up.
“Our stalls range from food and drink to stalls selling wine, knick knacks, antiquities, clothes, jewellery and more,” she said.
“There’s lots of activities happening and it should be a really good day out.”
A naval helicopter from HMAS Albatross will be on display, and, over on Prell oval, a scenic helicopter will be running joy flights throughout the day at $50 per person.
A jumping castle, slide, clowns, vintage car displays, face painting, kids art, craft activities and an animal farm will provide entertainment for all ages.
To kick off the day, a free barbecue will be held from 7:30am til 9, provided by Holcim and Bryants Bakery.
Official proceedings will begin onstage at 11am, including a citizenship ceremony.
“Having 15 people is really special and would be very exciting for them to do this on Australia Day,” Cr James said.
Prior, from around 9am the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium will provide music until 10:30, followed by a karate demonstration by Paul Parlett.
At 10:45 the Goulburn Soldiers Pipes and Drum band will lead into the hour-long official program.
Australia Day Ambassador Warren Brown - well known for his editorial cartoons, his appearances on radio and television, as well as being an author and adventurer – will address the crowd during the ceremony.
Member for Goulburn Pru Goward and Member for Hume Angus Taylor will also give a short speech.
Following the ceremony, Steve Ruddell and Corbey-Lea Hunt will perform.
But that’s not where the fun ends.
Motorbike and push-bike stunt group Eljay’s will hold demonstrations throughout the day.
“We’re having a motorbike and pushbike stunt show as well, they’ve done a lot of previous shows from crowds of 40,000 to the smaller regional shows. It’s a family oriented show, with a bit of comedy thrown in too,” Cr James said.
If you’re feeling lucky, there’s a BBQ to be won on the day, donated from Magnet Mart Home Timber.
Entry forms will be located at the Council stand. The raffle will be drawn around 1:30pm.
Council has also arranged for free entry to the Aquatic Centre for the duration of the day.
