He was awarded the medal for his services to welfare of the aged and to the Crookwell community.
He served as General Manager, board member and Treasurer of Crookwell/Taralga Aged Care from 1987-2013 and was responsible for leading the efforts to raise funds and obtain grants for the purchase of additional properties and construction of a new facility over a period of 16 years from 1992-2008.
He has received two other awards, the first a Leadership and Achievement Award from the Department of Health and Ageing in 2009 and a Vocational Service Award from the Rotary Club of Crookwell in 1994.
He confessed to being a little humble about receiving such am honour.
“To be given such a national award is an honour, but I feel humbled by it too,” Mr Marshall said.
“I was very fortunate during my long career as an aged care administrator that I had care managers, board directors, maintenance supervisors, administration staff and care, catering, and cleaning staff who had a wide range of abilities and were dedicated and loyal to the organisation and myself.
“I could not have devoted myself to this demanding job which required me being available at any time of the day/night, if required without the total support of my wife, Lillian.”
