Making the pledge in the ceremony conducted by Mayor Geoff Kettle were: Ms Laybea Dennis – Liberia, Master Wonselea Davis (child), Ms Olabisi Fowosere – Nigeria, Mr Olukayode Fowosere – Nigeria, Miss Victoria Fowosere (child), Master Williams Fowosere (child), Mr Luckmore Mauledi – Zimbabwe, Mr Blaise McParland – Republic of Ireland, Mrs Charlene McParland – Republic of Ireland, Miss Sophie McParland (child), Ms Antoinette Musabyimana – Democratic Republic of Congo, Miss Nelly Ingabire (child), Master Toni Nshuti (child), Mr Fred Ndayishimiye – Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ms Dan Qian – China (child).
“Citizenship is a common bond uniting all Australians, whether they are Australia’s traditional inhabitants, first generation migrants or descendants of earlier settlers. Our rich heritage stems from the contributions made by all of us,” Mayor Kettle said.
