And now an East Coast Low hovering off the coast has put an end to any offshore fishing, at least until the weekend.
The crew on board the Narooma charter The Sheriff on Tuesday travelled all the way down to Tathra to get a nice striped marlin, estimated to be in the 80-90kg range.
The three fishermen on board were customer Jason from Bredbo with skipper Jason Bunney and deckhand Matt Betts.
The Sheriff has been venturing far and wide for the marlin, but was unlucky on Wednesday not to hook up when a couple of waterspouts were encountered at The Kink.
Also out there among the waterspouts was fellow Narooma charter boat Playstation with skipper Nick Cowley on board as well as client David Pakham from Melbourne.
David was able to land a 65kg striped marlin as well as six nice dolphinfish. And he fished with Playstation on Wednesday and got a few legal kings at Montague Island.
Scotty at Bermi Bait & Tackle on Wednesday reported on the shop’s Facebook that the bite moved down and in a little furtherto 37'08 150'16 and continued to produce with Shockwave tagging four for the day.
The day before on Tuesday, Scotty reported that Lee Rayner, Jules and Lee (Duffy) went 7.5.5 at around 36'58 in amongst an awesome bite.
“Some of the best Striped Marlin fishing on the south coast was experienced by many today. A number ended up with five or so fish. It was great to see so many fisho's bait/switch or pitching baits into bait balls as an alternative to simply bombing bait schools with livies.”
