It’s a pretty amazing result for a city-turned-country girl, Ms Skinner admitted.
“It’s fantastic… I feel like I’ve really been embraced by our community.
I guess as a Sydney girl I didn’t really expect to receive the sort of reception I did,” she told the Post.
“I’ve spent a lot of time really indentifying with what issues are affecting our community and our agricultural community and trying to help out the show society with this years’ and next years’ shows.”
Twelve young women from across the region competed over the weekend at the Eurobodalla Zone 3 finals in Moruya.
Each finalist was judged on personality, ambition, general local knowledge, deportment, public speaking, personal presentation and the like.
Just don’t call it a beauty pageant.
“It’s got more integrity than that,” Ms Skinner said.
Now, she and her Zone 3 counterpart, Cooma’s Holly McCosker will jet off to Sydney from March 24 for a week-long Showgirl intensive – charity events, dinners and show duties inclusive.
Seventeen girls will vie for the State title, which will be presented on Sunday March 29.
