Canberra trainer Nick Olive had gone into the race confident he’d may of been a contender.
His victory was made sweeter by the wild celebration of his clients and owners of the winning mare.
"That's what racing is about," Olive said after the race.
"I was pretty confident going into the race. The horse is going very well.
"He didn't have the best run in transit but Tye (Angland) rode her very well."
Fellow Canberra trainers, and mother and son duo, Barbara Joseph and Paul Jones, took second place with Just a Blur.
They also earned themselves a ticket to Randwick much to the despair to Goulburn’s Graeme Spackman, whose Wings, ridden by adopted local Patrick Murphy, finished third.
“Just missed out, that’s the way she goes,” Spackman told the Post.
“Overall the horse went really well on the day, we just got unlucky and got stuck behind.
“We lost momentum, and then probably went on to hit the front a little bit too early.”
Fellow Goulburn trainer Danny Williams with Bag of Nickels finished in ninth place and trainer Ken Callaghan with Dontspoiltheparty finished 15th.
Goulburn Racing Club president Fred Cooper said the wild scenes of celebration at the conclusion of the main race, summed up the day's excitement.
"That was something. You don't see that very often in racing," he said.
"The place was magic, everything worked well. That was the best quality of horse racing we'll ever see I think until next year."
An estimated 800-1000 people attended the event.
With a free BBQ showcasing local lamb, and a promotional stand promoting Stockade beer, Racing Club Secretary Greg Wilson said the day was well received.
“It was a fantastic race meeting, everything went well and for those who didn't come, well they certainly missed out,” he said.
