TWO Christian brothers charged with historical sexual offences have had their matters adjourned until next month.

William John Obbens, 69, and Christopher Rafferty, 63, both of Ryde, were mentioned before Registrar Bernadette Hilton on Wednesday in Goulburn Local Court.
Representing both men, solicitor Greg Walsh applied for an adjournment until 20 May, which was granted.
Mr Walsh told the court that fresh charges had emerged against Obbens, who currently faces four counts of indecent sexual assault against a person under 16 under his authority.
Mr Walsh also told the court that a brief had only been served on Rafferty two days before the hearing. Rafferty is currently charged with indecent assault, two counts of committing an act of indecency and three sequences of homosexual intercourse with a pupil.
Rafferty appeared in person, while Obbens had previously been excused from appearing. Bail was continued for both men.
Both men were arrested under Goulburn Strikeforce Charish, established to investigate historical allegations of child sex offences at St Patrick’s College.
