In its third year, the Festival will now run over one weekend.
A full two-days on November 14 and 15 has been scheduled.
Member of the organising committee Debbie Hunt told the Post the committee hoped the new format would attract a more diverse selection of people, including travellers, to the event.
“In the past it’s been spread over a couple of weeks and a couple of different locations. We’ve tried to concentrate it down so everybody can have the experience all at the one place,” Ms Hunt explained.
“We’re hoping by making is a festival feel and by offering workshops and practical demonstrations and a whole range of things, people can be involved in that we will draw a bigger crowd and a range of people from larger areas...
“It’s going to be more like a sustainability expo, showcasing all the sustainable businesses in the region and all the sustainable products that are out there and available."
An electric car display will again be a feature of the event, with the University of New South Wales signing on to showcase their Sun Swift Solar Car.
A range of experts across a whole range of sustainable interests will speak, hold demonstrations and practical workshops throughout the weekend.
Australia’s first Masterchef and the much-loved contestant in the recent ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’ reality program, Julie Goodwin will be among the special guests.
Ms Goodwin will host cooking classes and lend expertise on how to reduce food waste and cook with leftovers.
But, as always, there will be a serious message behind it all. A forum of sorts focused on energy choices will be held as the final event, led by CSIRO’s Ian Plimer.
It’s still early days. A venue is yet to be confirmed nor the schedule finalised. But the committee has made a good start.
Ms Hunt urged any local businesses with a sustainable flair to contact the Goulburn Group to get involved.
More detail on the event will be revealed later this year.
