Is it unAustralian to wish his demise in the third round at Wimbledon?
In fact No. 7 seed, Canada’s Milos Raonic, would do our nation’s sporting reputation a favour if he knocked out the brat like he did in the quarter finals last year.
Enough of the cop-outs.
Kyrgios isn’t a kid anymore.
He is a professional tennis player; an adult with responsibilities.
His skill on the court is unquestionable. He has talent to burn.
But when he gets fired up it becomes ugly.
He’s a bore. A brat. A repeat offender.
Someone please give him the flick.
About 120 Goulburn kids braved the chill during a local tennis camp this week.
Battling parents parting with their hard-earned so their children could simply “have some fun” during the school holidays.
There were no strawberries and cream – and million dollar pay cheques – at the Bishop Street Tennis Courts.
Just Goulburn’s eternal winter and some youngsters hanging out with their friends and making new ones.
Then they see Aussie tennis’ new star Nick Kyrgios carry on like a right royal pork chop.
Remember, this guy has a team of supporters, coaches, managers.
He stays in the best hotels. Wears the best shoes and uses the latest and greatest in racquets.
Gets good money for even winning a first round match.
In fact, he gets good money for just getting out of bed.
Yet he still belittles umpires and berates officials while beating opponents who were clearly no match for him anyway.
Classy stuff. There are no excuses.
Everyone loves a character, a competitor – think Lleyton Hewitt, Dave Warner, Billy Slater – but consistently taking down officials isn’t competing.
It’s cowardice.
