The boys from Goulburn will be members of the NSW team and fly out with their parents for Bunbury on Thursday.

Their bikes have already been shipped over to Western Australia along with several other bikes belonging to the NSW competitors.

Ryder, 10, will be competing in the 9 to 11 years 65cc class and the 9-12 years 85cc class, while his younger brother Kayd, 7, is a contestant in the 50cc 7-8 years class.

The boys are members of the Goulburn Motor Cycle Club (GMCC) which has been trying for 100 years to secure a track of their own where junior riders like the two brothers can compete as well as providing a home for club and state or national events.

The Goulburn Motorcycle Club has been very supportive of the two young competitors and tomorrow evening they are holding a fundraiser to help with transport costs of getting the boys and their bikes along with their parents to Western Australia. 

The evening is being held at the Goulburn Green Grocer and it is a pizza and pasta night for $25 per person.

Sam White from GMCC said anyone is welcome to come along and support the these two young competitors.

Sam White’s son, Charlie has been putting in at least one day a week into training the two boys to compete and improve their competitive edge.

This work along with their other practice and gym training has certainly paid off for the boys.

Ryder won the 7-9 years 65cc championship in the East Coast MX Junior series while Kayd finished fifth in the 50cc 7-9 years.

In the NSW Junior Dirt Action Amcross series Ryder achieved a top step podium finishes in the 9-11 years 65cc and 6-12 years 85cc while his brother finished on the second step in the 7-8 years 50cc.

In the NSW Junior Motocross titles Ryder won the 65cc 7-9 years and Kayd finished second in the 50cc 7-9 years.

The Kingsford family clocks up thousands of kilometres a year travelling to these events both all around NSW and interstate with their very competitive young boys. 

They camp in their van and tow a bike trailer to cut down on costs.

The trip to Western Australia is a little different because they had to send the bikes over in a container, then fly over and hire a car to transport them to Bunbury, plus to and from the caravan park, where they rented a van for the eight days of the championships.

The boys’ mother, Michelle Kingsford said she and the boys’ dad, Scott would like to thank the Goulburn Motor Cycle Club in particular Charlie White but everyone else too, who have helped the boys with their training and the expense of getting to these competitions.

“It is really a family sport and you can see it with all the families involved in the club and the way they support each other,” Mrs Kingsford said.
