BELMORE Park was packed to capacity on Saturday morning for the 64th Lilac City Festival, with lots of activities to keep both the adults and kids entertained.

Festival organisers Yvonne Neale and Heather Landow were pleased with the turnout.
“Crowds have been very good this year and there were plenty of stalls,” Mrs Neale said.
“And to top it off, the weather was also beautiful.”
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor presented the Lilac Festival Achiever of the Year award to local lawn bowls identity Judy Cooke.
Her daughter Joanne Cosgrove and Ms Cooke’s grandchildren accepted the award on her behalf.
“It’s great to see mum get this award and I think she will be very proud to receive it,” Ms Cosgrove said.
Fellow festival organiser Heather Landow was disappointed at the lack of a 2015 Lilac Festival Citizen of the Year.
“It was just unfortunate that this year we didn’t have any nominees for the Citizen of the Year, which is very unusual,” Ms Landow said.
“But we stay positive and we’re looking forward to our big 65th anniversary next year.
“Hopefully somebody will keep the festival going until it’s 100th birthday in 2052!”
Although there was no street parade, the centerpiece of this year’s festival was the fireworks at Seiffert Oval, with Humphrey Bear entertaining the crowd.
The festival activities continue today with the presentation of prizes for the Open Garden Competition at 1 pm, the Auction at 2 pm and the quirky Pet Parade from 2.30 pm.
