I WOULD like to emphasise that at no time have we (the Goulburn AP&H Society Inc) seen ourselves in a dispute with the harness racing industry and have never attempted to discredit the harness racing industry.

We have existed side-by-side at the Goulburn Showgrounds for many years and have always been on cordial terms.
Our dispute is and has always been with the Goulburn Mulwaree Council - definitely not Goulburn Harness.
We have examined the situation and we owe Harness Racing NSW and Goulburn Harness Racing an apology.
The problem is in the double-booking by Goulburn Mulwaree Council for March 5/6, 2016. Harness Goulburn booked a registered race meeting for Sunday March 6.
Goulburn Show Society booked March 5/6 for its 2016 Show. Council accepted both bookings.
In our endeavours to get our 2016 show going, we somewhere along the way took the (wrong) view that Goulburn Harness had to run its March 6 event along the Harness Racing NSW requirements for show racing in respect to prize money and betting and ignored the fact that Goulburn Harness had already had a full registered race meeting, which of course included prizes and TAB etc.
There is no excuse for us assuming that harness would change its race conditions on that day simply to suit us. We offer our public apology, and to set the record straight.
Jacki Waugh, President - Goulburn AP&H Society.
