IN the spirit of the cakeless cake stall, and as a means to a very good end, I would like to invite Goulburn Post readers to a ‘functionless function’.

I know there are many calls on people’s finite finances, but readers may feel able to make a small donation towards healing the children of Gaza, in particular supporting programs for children suffering from experiences of war and conflict.
On a study tour of Palestine last year I visited one of the Gaza health clinics. The programs are streamlined and professional and show what it is to act in the face of great need.
Act for Peace, an international aid agency of the National Council of Churches in Australia, is supporting the clinics and the various projects.
The current Act for Peace project centres on trauma counselling for the children who are still suffering from their experiences in the Gaza conflict of 2014, as well as group counselling for mothers to assist them in dealing with their children in distress.
This is my suggestion. Go to the website actforpeace.org.au and give your donation direct. Follow the prompts to: Get Involved, Our Latest Appeals, Gaza Appeal and Give Now. You may want to let me know of your donation or you may not (0421 825 698, text or call). Other means of money collection can be arranged.
So come to my function. The children of Gaza will appreciate that you care.
Helen Rainger, Goulburn.
