EVERYONE knows what it's like to be thrown in at the deep end - of the pool; especially the latest consultants in town that the council has employed to tell us what we want to happen at our Olympic pool.

They said, close the 50m. We said, no way. Now they say, let's talk. I say this is why consultants and the community don't mix.
The well-experienced community, councillors and council staff should have the skills to work this out ourselves.
These consultants are just snake oil salesmen, preying on our dithering, wasting our time and money.
If you want more proof of this, just read the guff they're sending out in their 'let's now talk' campaign.
They talk about assets, trends, demogrtaphics, specific needs: nothing we don't already know or don't need to know.
Nothing about the most basic need: the need for all kids in Goulburn to learn to swim and be challenged with that skill in a 50m-long and deep pool.
While we're at it, cover the pool so kids can be taught and practise this skill all day and all year long, protected from our hot and cold weather extremes.
That's the life case and the business case for our pool. Thank you, consultants, your job is done, goodbye. Now, council, just rebuild it. Who do I send my bill to?
Ron Fielding, Goulburn.
