Luke was only 18, had played cricket for both Queanbeyan and Goulburn, and had been named as the Bluebag's most promising junior the evening before his passing.
While the much-loved left-arm medium-fast may be gone, his legacy continues.
Succeeding not only for Goulburn and Queanbeyan, but within ACT cricketing circles resulted in the ACT Comet's male representative player of the year award being renamed the Luke Bush Rising Star Award while the Bluebag's most promising junior cricketing award also carries Luke's name.
Three years ago Queanbeyan cricketing club legend Michael Frost, along with Goulburn's Stacey Klower, came up with the concept of a memorial shield being played between the neigbouring local junior squads.
The aim was to remember the special nature of Luke Bush, while also recognising the relationship between the two cities that had shared numerous successes through their cricketers.
"It is named in honour of a champion young lad from Goulburn who played for Queanbeyan.
"He was a first premiership player, immensely talented but was tragically lost to us all," Michael Frost said.
"His sportsmanship, performances on the field and his commitment to the Queanbeyan Cricket Club and his family are missed dearly by all and this event honours his all too short time with us," he said.
A team of under 13 and under 15 junior cricketers from Goulburn will travel to Queanbeyan on Sunday, February 21 to compete against their Bluebag counterparts at Freebody Oval 1.
The under 13 match will commence at 10am, with the Queanbeyan squad consisting of Blake McCarten, Sam Frost, Matt Rebus, Oliver Fox, Josh Fahey, Eligh Deveau-Patterson, Jasper Haskins, Eli Brennan, Rory O'Brien, Brad Millynn, Harry O'Rourke, Max Hunter, Jordan Gilbery, Jackson Miller and Ben Thurling.
While Braiden McCarten, Duane Bush, Lachlan Squire, Angus Jones, Oliver Hall, Tom McNamara, David Gray, Jack Manners, Abhinash Kumar, Jack McNamara, Mitchell Fern, Petre Petreski, Leo Palombi and Ahmed Dilraj will all pad up for the under 15 match against their Goulburn counterparts beginning at 1.30pm.
A luncheon will be held between the two matches at 12.45pm.
