Anglicare's Goulburn-based executive manager Simon Bennett said he was pleased the new centre was opening.
"We are so pleased to be able to offer the Goulburn community a more comprehensive early childhood service for children aged from 0 to 5 years thanks to this decision," Mr Bennett said.
"The new service will also see the St Saviours Long Day Care Centre currently located in Cowper Street relocated to the new building and able to expand utilising the existing purpose built child care centre on the TAFE campus."
In September last year, TAFE Illawarra announced their intention to close their 27 place Children's centre at Christmas.
They later agreed to continue operating their centre into early 2016 - until Anglicare had licensing approvals to ensure continuity of service for families.
Mr Bennett said Anglicare was recently granted a licence to operate a 45 placement child care centre at the TAFE premises on the corner of Verner and View St Goulburn. "Anglicare has been providing Early Childhood and Education to our local community since 1976 and this new service will complement our current services of Family Day Care, Orana and Marulan Preschool and local playgroups," he said.
"Anglicare is also currently reviewing options for expanding its community services on Cowper Street, using the previous St Saviours Long Day Care Centre building."
The centre will operate from 7.30am and closes at 6pm (Monday to Friday).
Anglicare Goulburn Early Childhood Centre will offer both Long Day Care and Occasional Care and will be providing morning and afternoon teas, nappies and sun safe hats. The centre is taking enrolments for 2017 and can be contacted by phoning 48 234 057.
