But there's a staple need, particular to 44 per cent of the country's homeless, that is often overlooked: sanitary care.

Share The Dignity give sanitary products to homeless and at-risk women for a sense of dignity at a time when it is most needed.

It's a cause to which all women can relate.

Pink and purple bins have been placed throughout the city in the hope Goulburn will rally and donate sealed sanitary pads and tampons.

Share The Dignity regional coordinator Claire de Haan said tampons and pads collected during April would be distributed locally, foremost.

"I became aware of it in August last year when Em Rusciano was on The Project," Ms de Haan said. "I thought as a business owner that I wanted to adopt some charity and that hit a chord with me," Ms de Haan said.

"It's about making sure women who are homeless, in refuges, domestic violence victims or in financial strain shouldn't have to choose between feeding themselves and their families and purchasing sanitary products. It's about making sure that, every month, women who need these products have them available to them."

When the bins are full with products at the end of April they will be collected, tallied and distributed to local charities.

"Last August, because it was the first time I'd been involved, everything we had went to Angels For The Forgotten," Ms de Haan said.

"This year we are hoping we will be able to get out more products to different local charities. Local charities are the first port of call."
