Officers attached Queanbeyan Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation following a report a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by a man on a nature strip near Polding Street, Yass, in the early hours of Monday, February 8.

Police were told the man was with a woman who was in possession of a dog.

The man and woman observed headlights approaching and the victim left the scene shortly thereafter. The vehicle did not stop and is believed to have continued along intersecting Pritchett Street.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time, to come forward.
