Careers advisor Jennifer Kennedy takes the time to sit down with students, even parents, to discuss what would benefit them in the future.
Mrs Kennedy helps seniors find their desired career when the student themselves don't even know it yet.
Aleisha says: I am currently an Aboriginal school-based trainee at Family and Community Services every Wednesday. Staff at Goulburn High have gone out of their way to ensure I am on task and that all classes missed are caught up on.
I have studied a Certificate III in Exploring Early Childhood, a Certificate II in Business Services and - right now - a Certificate III in Tourism and Events. These courses at Goulburn High School lead to great opportunities, which lead to good experiences.
An amazing experience that Dayna and I embarked on together was the chance to do work placement in Sydney for our tourism Certificate III course.
We had the chance to go to Sydney together for a whole week! We had plenty of laughs and we came back with a lot of stories to share with our supportive teachers. It was fun because we got to go with each other.
Dayna says: I completed Certificate III in Aged Care through TAFE in 2015. I was the youngest in class and yet capable of achieving my Certificate III, with support from Goulburn High School while attending TAFE.
I am now studying a Certificate II in Business Services and Certificate III in Tourism and Events. With Aleisha, it was a great experience to do a placement in another city, especially Sydney.
Every morning, heading to placement - which was completed at a travel agency - we got lost and somehow ended up at a different side of Sydney! It was very different to Goulburn. It was exciting to also be independent for ourselves for a week.
This experience we will never forget and we are grateful to Goulburn High for making this possible for us. We thank every staff member, especially Mrs Kennedy and Mrs Bourke. We wouldn't be the students we are today without them.
