The Queanbeyan Tigers have made a loud statement in their hunt for a third consecutive flag, taking down the ladder-leading Ainslie Tricolours at Queanbeyan on Saturday, June 18.

The Tricolours were undefeated going into the game but the Tigers managed to end their streak, wrangling a 10-point victory, 12.11 (83) to 10.13 (73), over their ACT counterparts.

Queanbeyan coach Kade Klemke was his usual self down back, along with Josh Bryce, while captain Andrew Swan took out the Muir Medal as best on ground.

Tigers youngster Christian Palombi was also dominant on the wing.

But Swan said the Tigers were "not going to get big heads" and expected a response from the Tricolours the next time they meet.

He said their pressure and hard running were the keys to the win.

"No doubt that would be nice [to win three premierships in a row], but it's only halfway through the season and it's still early days," Swan said.

"They had a couple of players out. Obviously not every game's a wet game and that could've been the difference.

"We're not going to get big heads about it ... obviously they've got a lot more to show and they're going to come out even harder the next time we play them."
